We completed this renovation project in Cumberland in March 2008.
We started with a 360 sf cottage and ended up with a 640 sf two story cottage with all the energy efficiency we could put into it.
Foam insulation and high efficiency LP heating make this an ultra efficient, low maintenance home. But that's only the beginning. This isn't a "typical" cottage; it's packed with high-end features that most homes don't ever see. First is the exterior - cedar shake siding with woven flared corners make the home stand out.
Inside you'll find wide-plank pine floors and natural wood everywhere. To get up or down you'll take your oak spiral stairs. Once upstairs you can see what's below through your structural glass block floor which meets you as you top the spiral stairs. The upstairs bedroom also has a glass block wall section with a hidden closet underneath it for a very efficent use of space. Beautiful views of the Maine woods through your low-e Anderson windows await.
